DENDROCHRONOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF TIMBERS

FROM 9 CANNON STREET IN LYDD, KENT, ENGLAND.

SUMMARY

Eleven oak building timbers were sampled for dendrochronological analysis from ground, first floor and attic at 9 Cannon Street (TR04232089). Eight individual timbers were dated from the site forming a 135-year site mean chronology (9CANNON) spanning AD 1359 - AD 1493. All samples were considered an associated felling and a felling date range of AD 1493 - AD 1509 established based on sapwood evidence of 8 timbers. 9 Cannon Street represents the third building analysed by dendrochronological investigation from this south eastern tip of Kent and an updated 206-year reference chronology for Lydd (LYDD3) spanning AD 1359 - AD 1564 is presented.
